My name is Shelby. I hail from Grosse Pointe, Michigan, I have a small, incredible family. One sister, two loving parents, five first cousins and three sets of aunts and uncles. Two sets of grandparents that served as a concrete foundation for our family tree. I graduated with average grades from a not so average high school. I visited Grand Valley State University in spring of 2008, fell in love with the physical beauty of the campus and welcoming nature of the people. Fall 2009 I began attending GVSU.
...Let's speed this up a bit.
Originally I wanted to major in the classics and Latin language (NERD ALERT).
But soon thereafter decided business was a more practical career choice.
Official majors: International Business and Marketing
Hmm... International Business you say? Well, that requires a language minor as well.
Latin=dead language.
Shit.
French? Took 6 years of it...
European economic collapse?
Shit.
One billion people in China? Massively growing middle class?? On to something here...
Minor: Chinese Language
Fast forward--->Passion for Chinese language and culture grew and blossomed into the tree that we may now refer to as the winter 2012 Taiwan study abroad program.
So here I am. An average American girl, among friends, attempting to see the world beyond our own backyards.
Here are my thoughts, experiences, observations and (hopefully) insightful recollection of four months where I am: Off to see the world!
Watch me go!
Looks like a blast! Go spread those wings! Nanna's coat too...love it fancy lady!
