If you knew me you would know that I am obsessed with clothing.
It is like a disease:
When I see new clothes I want them.
When I see my old clothes I can't part with them.
I have two large closets full of them.
And two dressers.
And countless boxes in storage.
Oh did I mention I am fond of shoes and purses as well?
Ay, there's the rub...
Because when packing a life of fashion lust into two 50 pound suitcases,
one encounters many difficulties.
So I had to streamline my obsession. I was left with 13 pairs of shoes, 7 pairs of jeans, too many dresses, shirts, sweaters and accessories to count.
Now that I am in Taipei I have a few recommendations for fellow travelers:
1. DO NOT PURCHASE $50 UMBRELLAS THAT YOU FORGET AT HOME (sorry Mom and Dad).
2. Never underestimate the value of comfort.
3. Shoes are a necessity that get ruined when walking hours around a city, be prepared to discard some of them.
4. Always research the weather in your destination country.
5. Planning, planning, planning: write lists! Yahoo! Answers is an excellent resource if you are heading somewhere unfamiliar.
My final suggestion:
Do not freak out! You will be okay and may even have fun tracking down things you forgot once in your destination.
